✅ What’s happening
When walls are drawn as part of a roof model, there are two lines on top of each other:
Wall line
Wall top line
In the example below we have the wall top lines set in a bright green colour and quite heavy, whereas the wall lines themselves are the thin black ones which are overwhelmed by the thick green lines.
Because the lines overlap, when you click the location the software may detect either one.
🧭 How to select the correct line
When selecting the location for the Wall Top line, the software will find both — so you need to make sure that you have actually selected the wall top line.
The software will tell you which line is currently selected at the end of the prompt on this dialog as shown below.
If you have the correct line, select [Yes]
If it not, select [No] and the next line at that location will be displayed
Then select [Yes] — and the gable end will be created.
👀 What you should see next
Once you get the right line you should see something similar to this:
🧩 The merge prompt (Yes vs No)
If you select [Yes] to this prompt, then that all becomes one plane.
If you select [No] they stay as separate planes divided at that top line.
The reason being that there are examples where the panels on the gable run vertically and the main wall runs horizontally, or vice versa.
If you select to merge the planes, the panels will cover the whole area in the required direction.
