How do I change the pitch of roof planes?

Learn how to modify the pitch of one or more roof planes using the Change Pitch command.

Updated this week

Menu path

Modify Roof > Change Pitch

🧾 What it does

The Change Pitch command allows you to modify the slope angle of one or more roof planes. When you change a plane's pitch, the roof geometry automatically updates to reflect the new angle.

πŸ”§ How to use it

  1. Go to Modify Roof > Change Pitch

  2. Select one or more roof planes using either method:

    • Click the tick mark in the corner of each plane, or

    • Turn on plane hatching by selecting Tools > Show Planes, then click directly on the plane(s)

  3. Right-click to confirm your plane selection

  4. Enter the new pitch value for the selected planes

  5. The roof geometry will automatically recalculate to accommodate the new pitch

How to use

Tick mark selection

Click the small tick mark located in the corner of each roof plane (when planes are turned off)

Plane hatching/filled

Select Tools > Show Planes to display a visual pattern on all planes, then click directly on the plane surface

⚠️ Important considerations

Recommended for small changes: This command works best for minor pitch adjustments. Large pitch changes may cause the roof plane to fit incorrectly, and adjacent planes may not update as expected.

Adjacent plane behaviour: When you change one plane's pitch significantly, neighbouring roof planes may not automatically adjust in the way you expect. For major roof modifications, consider using other roof modification tools.

πŸ’‘ Tips

Turn on plane hatching (Tools > Show Planes) to make plane selection easier, especially when working with complex roof geometries.
