Menu path

What this command does

The Gable to Hip command converts a gable end of a roof into a hip end.

During the process, Roof Wizard:

  • Prompts you to identify the ridge connected to the gable

  • Asks for the pitch of the new hip end

  • Automatically updates the roof geometry

  • Automatically changes the line types of the affected boundary lines

No manual redrawing is required.

How to use Gable to Hip

  1. Select Mod-Roof > Gable to Hip.

  2. When prompted, select the ridge line attached to the gable end you want to convert.

  3. Enter the pitch for the new hip end when prompted.

  4. The gable end is automatically converted into a hip end.

What happens after the conversion

  • The roof geometry is updated to form a hip end

  • The boundary line types are changed automatically to suit a hip configuration

  • The model is immediately ready for further editing, estimation, and reporting

These automatic updates ensure that:

  • Flashing and trim are identified correctly

  • Material quantities remain accurate

  • Labour and reporting outputs reflect the new roof shape
