Modify Roof > Gable to Hip
π§Ύ What it does
This command converts a gable end (vertical triangular wall) into a hip end (sloped triangular roof section). The gable end becomes a sloped roof plane that meets at the ridge, creating a more enclosed roof design.
β
π§ How to use it
Select Modify Roof > Gable to Hip from the menu
When prompted, click on the ridge line that connects to the gable end you want to convert
Enter the pitch for the new hip end when prompted (specify in degrees or as a ratio, e.g., 30Β° or 7:12)
The gable end is automatically converted to a hip end
π What happens automatically
After conversion, the roof edge lines change from gable style to hip style automatically. The line types of the boundary lines update to reflect the new hip end configuration.
β
π‘ Typical pitch values
Hip end pitches commonly match the main roof pitch but can be different depending on design requirements. Standard residential pitches range from, say 15Β° to 45Β° (4:12 to 12:12 slope).
