How do I change a hip end to a gable end?

What This Command Does

When you run Hip to Gable, Roof Wizard:

  • Converts the selected hip end into a gable end

  • Automatically updates the relevant boundary line types

  • Adjusts the roof geometry to suit a gable configuration

No manual redrawing is required.


How to Use Hip to Gable

  1. Select Mod-Roof > Hip to Gable.

  2. When prompted, select the ridge line connected to the hip end you want to convert.

  3. The selected hip end is immediately converted into a gable end.


Important Selection Note

When selecting the ridge:

  • Click close to the hip end you intend to change.

  • If the ridge has a hip at both ends and you click closer to the opposite end, the wrong hip may be converted.

Taking care with ridge selection ensures the correct roof end is modified.

Resulting Line Type Changes

After the conversion:

  • The eave line beneath the new gable is set to None

  • The rake lines are automatically set to Barge

These changes ensure:

  • Correct flashing and trim identification

  • Accurate material quantities

  • Proper labour and reporting outcomes
