How do I merge roof edges?

Learn how to merge two plane edges created by the Drop-Eave function to correct roof corners.

Menu path

Modify Roof > Merge Edges

🧾 What it does

The Merge Edges command allows you to merge two plane edges created by the Drop-Eave function. This is useful when you need to correct roof corners that have been separated into individual planes.

The Drop-Eave function creates separate plane edges at roof intersections, and merging them reconstructs the roof to create a correct, continuous corner.

πŸ”§ How to use it

  1. Navigate to Modify Roof > Merge Edges

  2. Select the first roof edge (rake line) that you want to merge

  3. Select the second roof edge (rake line) to merge with the first

  4. The roof will automatically reconstruct to create a correct corner

Example: Roof edges before merging

Example: Roof edges after merging - corner is now correctly reconstructed

πŸ’‘ When to use this function

Use Merge Edges when:

  • You have used the Drop-Eave function and need to rejoin separated roof planes

  • Roof corners appear disconnected or incorrectly constructed

  • You need to create continuous roof edges at intersections

⚠️ Important notes

This function is specifically designed to work with edges created by the Drop-Eave function. The edges must be compatible for merging to work correctly.
