How do I use the Cut Line tool?

Find intersection lines between two roof planes and automatically trim them where they meet.

Menu path

Modify Roof > Cut Line

What it does

The Cut Line tool finds the intersection line between two roof planes and automatically inserts a cut line at that intersection point. This is particularly useful when constructing complex roof shapes plane by plane, where the roof planes need to be trimmed back to where they intersect.

πŸ”§ How to use the Cut Line tool

  1. Click the Cut Line button in the Modify Roof toolbar

  2. Select the first roof plane you want to intersect

  3. Select the second roof plane you want to intersect with the first

  4. A cut line is automatically inserted at the intersection point

  5. The roof planes will be trimmed back to where they meet

πŸ›  When to use Cut Line

The Cut Line tool is most useful when:

  • Building complex roof shapes one plane at a time

  • You need to precisely trim overlapping roof planes

  • Creating custom roof intersections that require exact alignment

  • Working with multi-level or stepped roof designs

πŸ’‘ What to expect

After using the Cut Line tool, you'll see:

  • A visible cut line marking the intersection between the two planes

  • The roof planes automatically trimmed to the intersection point

  • Clean, precise edges where the planes meet
