How do I understand special configuration files?

Learn about SIDELAP.DAT, CSR.DAT, and TIFFOPT.DAT configuration files for advanced system customisation.

Special configuration files enable advanced customisation of Roof Wizard for specific user requirements. These files must be created manually and placed in your User folder to activate their functionality.


๐Ÿงพ SIDELAP.DAT

What it does

Enables the Panel Side Underlap Distance field in the Metal Panels > Allowances dialog. Without this file, the field remains greyed out and defaults to 0.0.

When to use it

This file is required for users who perform angle cutting in the factory, where panel width must be adjusted to calculate the correct angle of cut.

How to create it

  1. Create a new text file named exactly "SIDELAP.DAT"

  2. Place the file in your User folder

  3. Restart Roof Wizard

  4. The Panel Side Underlap Distance field will now be available for editing


๐Ÿงพ CSR.DAT

What it does

Forces the software into 'CSR mode' enabling integration with SAP enterprise software.

Only create this file if you are interested in SAP integration requirements. Creating this file without proper SAP configuration will cause system integration conflicts and operational failures.

How to create it

  1. Create a new text file named exactly "CSR.DAT"

  2. Place the file in your User folder

  3. Ensure SAP integration is properly configured before restarting Roof Wizard


๐Ÿงพ TIFFOPT.DAT

What it does

Controls the size, resolution, and display options for TIFF image output files used in SAP integration. This file defines the specifications for images that appear in client quotation PDF documents generated by SAP.

โš ๏ธ Availability Note

This feature only works for CSR installations with specific SAP integration requirements. It is not available for standard Roof Wizard installations.

๐Ÿ’ก Optimum Settings

For SAP integration, the recommended settings are 1200ร—600 pixels at 150 DPI. This produces colour images with coursing displayed but no roof planes visible.

File location

Place the TIFFOPT.DAT file in your User folder. The software will locate the file automatically regardless of its exact position within the User folder structure.

  1. Use a plain text editor (such as Notepad) to create configuration files

  2. Ensure exact filename spelling including the .DAT extension

  3. Save files in your designated User folder

  4. Restart Roof Wizard after adding any configuration file
