Roof Wizard uses several data files to customise how reports are generated and formatted. These files let you control image padding, add custom invoice text, and create reusable note templates.
π§Ύ Required files overview
File | Purpose | Location |
ImagePAD.dat | Controls spacing around images in Word reports | ..\User folder (within Roof Wizard installation) |
TaxInvoiceNotes.txt | Custom text options for Tax Invoice reports | Default Roof Wizard directory |
NOTES.dat | Template note options for all reports | Default Roof Wizard directory |
π§ ImagePAD.dat - Fix image spacing issues
When MS Word imports images from Roof Wizard, improper spacing can make parts of reports less functional or difficult to read.
β
To create ImagePAD.dat:
Open Notepad
Type a number (recommended starting value: 2000)
Save the file as ImagePAD.dat in the ..\User folder within your Roof Wizard installation directory
Run your job again to see improved image spacing
π‘ Tip: Adjust the number in ImagePAD.dat to fine-tune image appearance. Higher numbers increase padding around images.
β οΈ Important: This enhancement only works in Roof Wizard post V10.10. Contact AppliCad Support Team if you need access to this release.
β
π§ TaxInvoiceNotes.txt - Custom invoice text
This file controls the text options displayed when you print CAD Report Types 12 or 13 (Tax Invoice 1 or Tax Invoice 2).
β
How it works:
When you select a Tax Invoice report, Roof Wizard displays a dialog box asking what you want on the invoice
The text options in this dialog come from TaxInvoiceNotes.txt
You can modify this file in Wordpad or Notepad to customise your invoice text options
To customise invoice notes:
Locate TaxInvoiceNotes.txt in your Roof Wizard directory
Open the file in Notepad or Wordpad
Edit the text strings to match your business requirements
Save the file
Generate a Tax Invoice report to see your custom options
π§ NOTES.dat - Report template notes
This file stores template note options that you can use across multiple reports.
File format requirements:
Each note option must be separated by the ^ (caret) character
The ^ (caret) sign indicates a compulsory carriage return/line feed (new line)
Structure your notes as: Note1^Note2^Note3^
To create NOTES.dat:
Open Notepad
Type your note templates separated by ^ characters
Example:
Standard roofing note^Custom installation note^Warranty information^Save the file as NOTES.dat in your Roof Wizard directory
π‘ Tip: Use the ^ character to create multi-line notes within your reports. Each ^ creates a new line when the note is displayed.
