How do I change storey levels?

Change the storey level of roof planes to apply different pricing scales or organise multi-level roofs.

Updated yesterday

Menu path

Tools > Change Entity > Storey

🧾 What it does

This command allows you to change the storey level of one or more roof planes. In roofing, a "storey" refers to different levels or floors of a building structure. Each storey level can have different pricing scales applied, as installation costs typically increase with height due to safety requirements and accessibility challenges.

πŸ”§ How to use it

  1. Select Tools > Change Entity > Storey from the menu

  2. Select the roof planes you want to change storey levels for

  3. Enter the new storey number when prompted

  4. Press Enter to confirm the change

πŸ›  What happens when you change storeys

When you change a roof plane's storey level:

  • The selected roof planes are assigned to the new storey level

  • Any line work attached to those planes automatically changes to the same new storey

  • Different part scales can be applied to different storey levels for pricing purposes

πŸ’‘ Why change storey levels

Storey levels are particularly useful for:

  • Multi-level roofs where different sections are at different heights

  • Applying different labour rates - typically, installers get paid more as they get further from the ground (but not always)

  • Organising complex roof structures for better project management

  • Ensuring accurate cost calculations based on installation difficulty

⚠️ Important notes

The storey number allows different part scales to be applied to different levels of the roof, which affects pricing calculations in your estimates.
