How do I change the eave height?

Change the vertical height of roof sections or entire roofs by adjusting the eave height relative to ground level.

Menu path

Mod-Roof > Change Eave Height

🧾 What it does

This command allows you to select individual roof sections or an entire roof and adjust their eave height vertically. The height is measured relative to ground level, which is typically assumed to be zero in the project coordinates.

πŸ”§ How to use it

  1. Select the roof sections you want to modify, or select the entire roof structure

  2. Navigate to Mod-Roof > Change Eave Height

  3. The New Eave Height dialog box will appear

  4. Enter the desired new eave height value

  5. Click [OK] to apply the changes

πŸ›  How it works

When you apply the new eave height, the selected roof planes are moved vertically to match the specified height. The movement occurs in the vertical plane only, maintaining the roof's horizontal positioning and pitch angles.

⚠️ Important considerations

Ground level reference: The eave height is measured relative to ground level, which is assumed to be zero in most projects. If your project uses a different ground level reference, adjust your measurements accordingly.

Connected elements: Changing the eave height will affect the vertical position of connected roof elements such as gutters, fascia boards, and any attached structures.

πŸ’‘ Tips

Before changing eave heights, consider how the modification will impact the overall roof structure and any connected elements. You can select individual roof sections for precise control or the entire roof for uniform height adjustments.
