How do I generate wall panels?

Generate individual cladding panels on wall surfaces using your selected panel material.

Menu Path

Top menu: Walls > Apply Wall Materials > Generate Wall Panels

Right menu: Walls > Generate

🧾 What it does

The Generate Wall Panels command creates individual cladding panels on wall surfaces using your selected panel material. The panels are positioned automatically according to the operator-defined lay direction (the orientation pattern for panel placement) and account for all door and window openings. The openings must be added before the panels are applied.

šŸ”§ How to use it

  1. Ensure you have walls created in your model

  2. Select or assign a panel material to your walls (if not already done, you'll be prompted to select one)

  3. Run the Walls > Generate Wall Panels command

  4. The system automatically places panels on each wall plane according to the lay direction settings (set in Allowances)

šŸ›  Panel placement behaviour

When panels are generated:

  • Each wall plane receives individual panels based on the selected material dimensions

  • Panel placement follows the operator-defined lay direction (horizontal or vertical orientation)

  • All openings (doors, windows, etc.) are automatically accounted for in the panel layout when added

  • Panels are cut and fitted around openings as needed

After generating panels, you'll see the placement of both horizontal and vertical cladding panels positioned on your wall surfaces. The lay direction may be changed after the initial installation - use the Walls > Modify Cladding/Siding options.

šŸ’” Tips

  • Set up your panel materials and lay direction preferences before generating panels for best results

  • Review wall openings before generating panels to ensure accurate panel cutting

  • You can regenerate panels if you change materials or modify wall geometry
