I have added new tiles to my list, but they do not appear in my list.

If you add new tiles but they don’t show up, it’s usually because Roof Wizard is set to use the other tile database (Tiles vs Tiles+). Check which database is selected in System Preferences.

Background 🧱

Roof Wizard software has two separate tiles database structures. One called Tiles and another called Tiles+.

The reason for having two is somewhat historical.

There is a requirement in Europe and the UK for estimating an extraordinary range of accessory items for clay tiles.

The original Tiles database that suited American, Australian and New Zealand tilers was simple to use, but did not handle this level of detail, so an additional tile data structure was created called Tiles+ that did handle these items, and a whole lot more.

Over time however, the Tiles database needed some enhancement for our traditional markets as well, and the ability to define accessories for the standard tiles database was added in V8.1.

These changes to the Tiles database made the Tiles+ database redundant for most users.

Situation ⚠️

So that Roof Wizard knows what tiles database is in use, the operator sets the option in the System Preferences area.

The system default is usually set to Tiles.

To check that it is correctly set:

  1. Go to Set-Up > Preference Settings > System Preferences on the pulldown menu.

  2. Check that [Tiles Database to Use] is set to Tiles, and select [OK] (the settings are automatically saved).

    • If you do not select [OK], nothing is saved.

Your software will now use the Tiles database.
