Why are the cells in the Supply & Install labour costing dialog squashed?

Fix “squashed” cells in the Supply & Install > Labour costing dialog by correcting the Currency Field Width setting in System Preferences (or in RWSetup.DAT if it was changed outside the software).

🧾 What’s causing this?

If your dialogs start to look like this, then you have picked up a stray setting for Currency Field width.

System Preferences sets the currency field width. It modifies the widths of fields in all currency dialogs (and some quantity ones also), but you need to be thorough with testing it.

If you change it to something outside the bounds of 10..12 (what the software will allow you to change it to through the Tools > Preferences dialog, then it will report this error:

🗂️ Why this can still happen (even if you didn’t change anything)

The value however can be manually set outside of the software in RWSetup.DAT.

While we say "I promise I didn't change any settings" is only partially true. If you copied in an old RWSetup.DAT from somewhere else, or manually edited this value outside the software, then you DID change values within the software.

It’s stored about here in RWSetup.DAT:

✅ Fix: Set Currency Field Width back to a safe value

  1. Open RWSetup.DAT

  2. Set the value to the recommended range (between 10 and 20) and the cells will be fine.

  3. Save the RWSetup.DAT file

  4. Restart the software
