How do I display roof and wall plane areas?

Learn how to show individual roof and wall plane area measurements on your plans and customize the area display settings.

This tool displays individual area measurements for each roof plane and wall section on your drawing. The displayed areas automatically appear on your roof/wall reports for material calculations and project documentation.

🔧 How to display plane areas

  1. Go to Tools in the main menu

  2. Select Roof/Wall Plane Areas

  3. The tool will automatically calculate and display the area of each roof plane and wall section on your drawing

  4. Areas appear as text labels positioned on each plane

🧾 Area display settings

You can customize how the area measurements appear by adjusting the suffix settings:

  1. Go to Set-Up > Preference Settings > Dimension Defaults

  2. Locate the Suffix field

  3. Enter your preferred suffix text (e.g., "m²", "sq ft", "sqm")

  4. Click OK to apply the changes

💡 Tips for using plane areas

  • Areas are automatically included in your roof/wall reports - no additional steps needed

  • Use different suffix settings for different measurement units depending on your project requirements

  • The displayed areas update automatically if you modify the roof or wall geometry

  • Areas are calculated based on the actual plane surface, not projected horizontal area
