🧾 What it does

The View menu provides comprehensive control over how you see your roof model, from basic view orientations to advanced display options like shading and grid overlays.

πŸ”§ View Orientation Controls

Select View

Choose from preset view orientations to examine your roof model from different angles.

View Option

Description

Top View

Standard plan view orientation (default)

Front View

View roof from the front elevation

Right View

View roof from the right-hand side

Isometric View

3D angled view showing depth and dimension

Perspective View

Realistic perspective view

The current view name appears in the status line at the bottom of the graphics area. You may need to select Zoom Fit after changing views to properly display the model on screen.

Reset View

Resets the current view to a standard orientation after you have moved or rotated it. You may need to adjust the Plot Scale afterwards as Reset View may return you to 1:100 scale.

Spin View of Roof

Dynamically rotate the model around a selected point. First select Isometric view, then:

  1. Select View > Spin View

  2. Click a point to rotate around

  3. Enter an incremental angle (smaller angles = slower rotation)

  4. Right-click or press spacebar to stop rotation

Note: You can also hold the middle mouse button to dynamically rotate the model without using this command.

πŸ”§ Screen Layout Options

Single View / Four Views

Four Views displays Plan, Isometric, Front and Right views simultaneously to verify geometry against drawings. Single View returns to single view display.

View Split Options

Display multiple views concurrently within the graphics area:

Split Option

Description

Ver

Two views with vertical split - click to position borderline

Hor

Two views with horizontal split - click to position borderline

Four

Four views with crossed borderlines - click intersection point

Ver-Cen

Hor-Cen

Two views with centred horizontal split (fixed position)

Four-Cen

πŸ”§ Plot Scale

Controls the size of dimensions and text on your model as they would appear when printed. Access via View > Plot Scale.

Recommended scales:

  • 1:200 for larger commercial jobs

  • 1:100 for residential projects

Smaller plot scales result in smaller dimension text on screen. Plot scale also affects the size of panel lengths and other model annotations.

πŸ”§ Visual Display Options

Display Option

Description

Shaded

Normal render without textures - click OK to apply

Lines Hidden

Hide lines that appear behind other planes

Add Hide Lines

Add visible edge lines to shaded images

  1. Select View > Insert Roof Grid

  2. Set grid spacing

  3. Choose reference line colour, style, and weight

  4. Click OK to draw the grid

The grid can be turned on/off without deletion using Show/Hide Roof Grid, and realigned using Realign Roof Grid.
