π§Ύ What these tools do
The Fixtures command places individual roof fixtures that you've already defined in Set-Up > Fixtures. The Fixture Array command does the same but allows you to create multiple copies in a grid pattern - perfect for skylights or photovoltaic panels.
π§ How to place a single fixture
Select Cover > Fixtures
Choose from the thumbnail preview showing your defined fixtures
Depending on the fixture's insertion method, you'll be prompted to:
Select a single point
Select 2 points
Select a line
The fixture graphic is inserted at the selected location
β
π§ How to create a fixture array
Select Cover > Fixture Array
Choose from the thumbnail preview showing your defined fixtures
Place the first fixture using the same insertion method as above
In the Copy Array dialog, specify:
Number of copies in X direction (left/right)
Number of copies in Y direction (up/down)
Distance between copies in each direction
The array is created, copying all fixture elements including any roof holes
β
π How fixtures interact with your roof
Roof cutting: If you configured the fixture to cut a hole in the roof plane, the roof material is automatically removed from under the fixture.
Layer management: Fixtures are placed on layers that correspond to the roof storey:
Roof Level | Layer |
Single storey | Layer 11 |
Second storey | Layer 21 |
This ensures fixtures display correctly with their respective storey levels.
π§Ύ Generating flashings and costing
Flashings: To generate flashing and trim cutting lists for your fixtures, run the Cover Flashing Generate command. The fixture flashings are combined with other job flashings.
Quantities: Fixture quantities are automatically calculated when you perform costing operations.
π‘ Tips
Use Fixture Array instead of placing individual fixtures when you need multiple identical fixtures in a regular pattern - it saves significant time for solar panel installations or skylight arrays.
β οΈ Important notes
You must first define your fixtures using Set-Up > Fixtures before they appear in the fixture selection thumbnails.
