Mouse Controls and Enhanced Mouse Controls

Learn how to use basic and advanced mouse controls to efficiently navigate and modify your roof models in Roof Wizard.

Roof Wizard is designed to take full advantage of mouse controls for efficient software operation. While these controls take time to master, they provide very effective model manipulation once learned.

Left Button

Select commands or digitise points on screen

Right Button

Cancel, finish or abort commands

Middle Button

Snap to existing points or line endpoints; access inline commands and online help

Note: If your mouse has a scroll wheel, it functions as the middle mouse button.


πŸ”§ Middle Mouse Button Functions

  • Zoom scroll: Roll wheel to zoom in and out

  • Fit-Screen: Double-click middle button anywhere in work area

  • Pan: Hold down middle button and drag to pan around the job

  • Spin view: Hold Ctrl + move middle button to rotate view around screen point


🎯 Snapping Controls

Use the middle mouse button to snap to line ends and centres. The software "jumps" to line endpoints to help locate the pick box over the required point.

Hold Shift while using the middle button to snap a line to another line at the digitised location.

⚠️ No Middle Mouse Button?
Hold Shift key and use the left mouse button for middle button functions.

Combine Shift, Ctrl, and Alt keys with double-click left mouse for context-specific functions, especially useful for model modification and checking.

Available options display in the prompt area with appropriate dialog boxes. Tool-tips provide reminders of available functions.
