Roof Wizard is designed to take full advantage of mouse controls for efficient software operation. While these controls take time to master, they make working with the software highly efficient once learned.
🖱️ Basic Mouse Controls
The mouse buttons have specific functions in Roof Wizard:
Left mouse button: Select commands or digitise points on screen
Right mouse button: Cancel, finish, or abort commands
Middle mouse button: Snap to existing points or line endpoints, access inline commands and online help
If your mouse has a scroll wheel, it functions as the middle mouse button.
🔧 Middle Mouse Button Functions
Scroll zoom: Roll the middle button to zoom in and out
Fit screen: Double-click the middle button anywhere in the work area
Pan: Hold down the middle button and drag to pan around your model
Spin view: Hold Ctrl + middle button and move to rotate the view around the screen point
🛠 Snapping Options
Use the middle mouse button to snap to line endpoints and line centres. The software automatically jumps to line endpoints to help you locate the correct point.
Hold Shift while using the middle button to snap one line to another at the digitised location.
Note: If you don't have a middle mouse button, hold Shift and use the left mouse button for middle button functions.
🔧 Enhanced Mouse Controls
Combine Shift, Ctrl, and Alt keys with double-clicks for advanced context-specific functions, especially useful when modifying and checking your model.
When you use these combinations, available options display in the prompt area with tooltips as reminders.
