These data files store essential business information that appears throughout your quotes and reports. While you can edit them directly, it's recommended to use the software's built-in dialogs for data entry through the Job-Info dialog.

๐Ÿ’ก Best Practice for Data Entry

The recommended method for entering this data is through the Job Info dialog box, which automatically maintains the correct file structure. Once your basic setup is complete, you can add more records using Microsoft Excel or import from another program, provided the result maintains the format described above.

๐Ÿงพ MultiCompany.dat File

This file stores details for multiple companies within your business group. Use this when you prepare quotations for different companies and need the appropriate company details to appear on report headers.
โ€‹

Example structure: This file would contain separate records for companies like "Metal Master Shop" and "United Contractors", allowing you to switch between company identities for different jobs.

๐Ÿงพ SoftwareTitle.dat File

This file allows you to run multiple User folders with a single AppliCad Roof Wizard Programs folder while displaying different software headings. This helps differentiate between different versions, material setups, or labour configurations.

๐Ÿ”ง How It Works

  1. The SoftwareTitle.dat file must be placed in the appropriate User folder

  2. Create different desktop shortcuts pointing to different User folders

  3. Each User folder can have its own software title display

  4. The custom title appears in the Windows title bar to help identify which setup you're running

โš ๏ธ File Location Requirements

The SoftwareTitle.dat file must be located in the specific User folder that corresponds to the setup you want to customise. This ensures the correct title displays when that particular configuration is loaded.

๐Ÿ›  File Management Tips

  • Always backup these files before making direct edits

  • Use the software's built-in dialogs when possible to avoid formatting errors

  • When editing with Excel, save as CSV format to maintain compatibility

  • Test file changes with a small dataset before applying to your full database

โš ๏ธ Important Notes

  • Direct file editing bypasses built-in validation - use caution

  • Exceeding character limits may cause display issues

  • Maintain consistent formatting to ensure proper data import

  • Customer discount percentages: negative values create markups, positive values create discounts
