How do I set up QuoteGroups.csv for quote groupings?

Configure QuoteGroups.csv to create custom quote groupings with user-defined headings and item selections.

QuoteGroups.csv stores your user-defined headings for Quote Groups within the software. It's best to create this file directly from within the software to ensure correct indices and labels are applied to the file structure.

Important: Proceed carefully - one formatting mistake can stop the entire system from working properly.

🧾 File Limitations

  • Maximum of 20 Quote Group definitions

  • Maximum of 50 items per quote group

The file uses a specific format when viewed in MS Excel or text editor:

πŸ“‹ Related Data Files

Several related files work together with QuoteGroups.csv:

QuoteGroups.dat

Saves the list of items available for Quote Groups option list (maximum 50 items). Contains items such as:

Note the use of END at the bottom of the list.

QuoteNumber.dat

Stores the starting number, prefix and suffix of your quote number. Typically configured within the software.

QuotePresets.dat

Allows you to pre-set a series of pre-defined quote names to ensure standard quote names are used or to speed up the quoting process. Once defined, these names appear when you select Save from the Supply+Install dialogue box.

πŸ’‘ Best Practices

  • Always create QuoteGroups.csv from within the software rather than manually

  • Verify file formatting before importing

  • Keep within the 20 group and 50 item limits

  • Use the software's built-in tools to avoid formatting errors
