π§Ύ What it does
The Verify Entity command reports all CAD data and information about any entity you select in your roof model. The reported information differs depending on the type of entity selected (lines, planes, etc.).
π§ How to use it
Select Tools > Verify Entity from the menu
Click on the entity you want to verify (line, plane, or other roof element)
Review the information panel that displays the entity's properties and coordinates
π Information displayed for different entity types
Verifying a line
When you select a line, the system displays:
Information | Description |
Model start point | X, Y, Z coordinates for the beginning of the line |
Model end point | X, Y, Z coordinates for the end of the line |
Z height | Height of the line above the job datum (ground level) |
Entity tag | Line type identifier (e.g., RIDGE, EAVE, HIP) |
The Z coordinate values show the actual height of the line relative to the Construction Plane (CPL), which usually represents ground level. For example, if you select an eave line, the Z height values represent the eave height of your roof.
Verifying a plane
When you select a plane entity, the system displays:
Information | Description |
Entity tag | Plane type identifier (e.g., PLANE) |
Plane properties | Additional geometric and construction data specific to the plane |
π‘ Practical applications
Use the Verify Entity command to:
Determine exact eave heights by selecting eave lines
Check ridge heights and positioning
Verify coordinate accuracy during roof design
Troubleshoot alignment issues between roof elements
Extract precise measurements for construction documentation
β οΈ Understanding coordinates
All coordinates are displayed relative to the Construction Plane (CPL), which typically represents ground level or your project's base datum or coordinates of 0,0,0. The Z coordinate therefore represents the vertical height above this reference plane.
