How do I apply fall protection systems to my roof?

Learn how to set up and apply fall protection barriers to roof perimeters and other lines in your roofing project.

The fall protection feature allows you to apply custom fall barriers to roof perimeters or any other lines in your project. This is essential for meeting safety requirements and building codes.

Menu Path

Cover > Fall Protection

🧾 Before you start

Fall protection items must first be defined using the Set-up > Flashing command, with the Finish set to "Fall Protection".

πŸ”§ Auto-application method

For automatic fall protection application across your entire job:

  1. Go to Cover > Select-Tile or Cover > Select-Metal

  2. Click the arrow at the end of the Fall Protection field

  3. Select your pre-defined fall protection item from the dropdown

  4. Set the FP Height (height of any perimeter line above the construction plane)

  5. The selected fall protection will be automatically added to all edges above the FP Height

When you select a fall protection item and set the FP Height, the system adds the fall protection to all perimeter lines that meet the height criteria.

πŸ›  Manual application method

For greater control or when you need multiple fall protection types due to building codes or practical requirements:

  1. Go to Cover > Fall Protection

  2. Select your desired fall protection type

  3. Choose the specific lines where you want it applied

  4. Repeat for additional fall protection types as needed

You may select up to three different fall protection items in a single job – for example, side netting, two rail fence and 3 plank scaffold – and these must be added one at a time, selecting each line that each is applied to when prompted.

πŸ’‘ When to use each method

Auto-application: Use when you need consistent fall protection across all qualifying edges with the same height requirements.

Manual application: Use when you need different types of fall protection on different areas, or when building codes require specific arrangements.
