How do I create dormers?

Learn how to create gable, hip, single slope, and barrel dormers using the Mod-Roof dormer command.

🧾 What it does

The Mod-Roof > Dormer command allows you to draw a dormer in one of several styles on your roof. The styles available are Gable, Hip, Single Slope and Barrel.

In isometric view, the dormer styles appear as shown below:

  1. Click the Dormer command in the Mod-Roof menu

  2. You are prompted to select an eave on your roof

  3. Click on the eave where you want to place the dormer

Selecting the eave, the Roof Wizard automatically:

  • Selects the roof plane the dormer will affect

  • Determines the orientation of the dormer

  • Shows a flashing reference point at the end of the selected eave line nearest to where you clicked, giving you a point of reference for dormer placement
