🧾 What it does
The Mod-Roof > Dormer command allows you to draw a dormer in one of several styles on your roof. The styles available are Gable, Hip, Single Slope and Barrel.
In isometric view, the dormer styles appear as shown below:
🔧 How to use it
Click the Dormer command in the Mod-Roof menu
You are prompted to select an eave on your roof
Click on the eave where you want to place the dormer
🛠 What happens when you select an eave
Selecting the eave, the Roof Wizard automatically:
Selects the roof plane the dormer will affect
Determines the orientation of the dormer
Shows a flashing reference point at the end of the selected eave line nearest to where you clicked, giving you a point of reference for dormer placement
🧾 Available dormer styles
Style | Description |
Gable | Traditional dormer with triangular gable end |
Hip | Dormer with hipped roof form |
Single Slope | Dormer with single sloping roof surface |
Barrel | Dormer with curved barrel roof form |
💡 Tips
The flashing reference point helps you position the dormer accurately along the eave
Choose your eave selection point carefully as it determines the dormer's orientation
Different dormer styles suit different architectural requirements and roof configurations
