Atrium — Cut out a roof section along an eave

Cut out a portion of the roof along an eave to create an atrium (you can also create a drop down). Select the eave line, then set Distance along eave, Atrium width and Atrium depth (negative depth creates an overhang).

✅ What this command does

This command allows you to cut-out a portion of the roof along an eave, creating an atrium. You can also create a drop down as well.


🏛 How to create an atrium cut-out

  1. Go to Mod-Roof > Atrium

  2. When prompted, locate the eave line you want to modify

  3. The Atrium defaults dialog box will display—set the parameters (below)

🧩 Atrium defaults parameters

Distance along eave

The distance along the eave where the atrium cut-out will start.

  • Measured along the eave, from the end closer to where you selected the eave

  • For reference, that end begins to flash

Atrium width

The width of the atrium cut-out.

Atrium depth

The depth of the cut-out measured horizontally.

  • If you enter a negative number, the atrium extends outward, forming an overhang
