I have some items that won’t delete using the normal group delete function

If an item won’t delete using Group Delete, it’s usually attached to something else (a roof plane, line, block, etc.). This article explains how to remove stubborn items using Delete Element, and how to enable it if you can’t see it.

✅ Why this happens

This is usually caused by the item you are trying to delete being attached to something else on the model (e.g. attached to a roof plane, a line, a block, etc.).

🧰 Last resort: Use Delete Element

After all normal attempts to delete the entity, then as a last resort:

  1. Go to Tools > Check Model

  2. Select the Delete Element option

Delete Element will delete anything on the model no matter what it is attached to.

⚠️ Important: Please note that this can cause things to become disconnected and possibly corrupt the model, so use it only when your are sure that you need to or as advised by AppliCad.

📝 Note: If you don’t see Delete Element

If you don’t see Delete Element as an option, then you will need to create a file in your ..\User folder called Debug.txt.

📄 Create Debug.txt

  1. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to your ..\User folder

  2. Right click anywhere in there

  3. Select New > Text Document

  4. Rename the new text document to Debug.txt

✅ What happens next

With the Debug file created, when you go back into the Roof Wizard software and select the Tools > Check Model option you will now see all of these new 'debug mode' options appear -
