How do I change the names and/or colour of the flashing line types?

Learn how to rename roof/wall line types (like changing Step to Side Wall) and change their colours, styles, and weights using System Preferences and the CAD Colour Table.

πŸŽ›οΈ What you can change

You can set the major appearance attributes of all your flashing and trim lines (roof or wall) to display them how you want. You can set the colour, style, weight and name of a line type.

🧭 Change the name of a line type

  1. Go to Set-Up > Preference Settings > System Preferences in the pulldown menu.

  2. Click [Set Line Styles]

  3. The dialog box is displayed where you can change any of the names of the line types thus using terms more familiar to your people, for example changing Step to Side Wall.

  4. Select [Ok] and from that point onwards any line previously referred to in the software – line labels, flashing list etc as step will now be side wall.

🎨 Change the colour of a line type

  1. In the same Roof Line Options / Wall Line Options dialog, click the ellipsis button (…) at the end of the line type you want to change.

  2. This allows you to select a new colour from the colour palette you have set up.

  3. If you click on Ridge as an example, it brings up this box with the current colours you have set for that line type – colour number 1 used on our ridge line is red.

🧩 Edit the colours in the palette (Colour Table)

You can edit the colours available in this menu – there are 256 colour numbers and any number can be any colour.

  1. In the pulldown menu go to CAD > Defaults > Colour Table.

  2. Select the colour number that you wish to change, say colour 4 as an example, currently it is a dark grey colour.

  3. You can use the Red, Green, Blue (RGB) sliders to change the colour.

    • If they are all set to 0 you get black

    • If they are all set to 100 you get white

    • And then every shade in between

  4. If you wanted to change colour 4 to Red then I would set Red to 100 and then the others to 0.

  5. If you’re happy with the selection, then select [Apply] and from that point on colour 4 will be red in the palette.

⚠️ Important note about shared colour numbers

Be aware that there are a few colours such as 9 & 12 that are used to display some text e.g. when you generate your roof sheets or flashing lay outs etc. so any change you make for a selected line, will affect these attributes as well.

βœ… Take care what you change and be prepared to select a different colour number for your line type.
