🧾 What is a complex verandah?

A complex verandah is one where the distance from the wall to the eave line varies at different locations around the roof. This differs from a simple verandah, which maintains the same offset from the wall all the way around.

Use complex verandahs when you need different widths along different sections of the roof perimeter.

πŸ”§ How to create a complex verandah

  1. Click Complex Verandah from the Construct Roof menu

  2. Select successive lines that define the eave alignment of the verandah. These lines need not be connected, but successive lines must intersect

  3. When you have finished selecting eave lines, right-click to continue

  4. The first line remains highlighted. Click anywhere on the side where you want the verandah to appear

  5. Set parameters in the Verandah Defaults dialog. Unlike the simple verandah dialog, you can assign different widths for each side

  6. Click OK to draw the eave alignment

  7. Check if the eave alignment matches your intention. If not, right-click to finish and start over

  8. If the eave alignment is correct, select the wall lines that the verandah should connect to. You must select these lines in the same order as you defined the eave lines, and the lines must be connected

  9. When finished selecting wall lines, right-click to complete the verandah

πŸ›  Example: Complex verandah construction

Consider creating a complex verandah around the bottom and right-hand side of a roof:

Step 1: Select lines d1 and d2 to define the eave alignment.

πŸ’‘ Managing verandah entities

All verandah entities are automatically grouped together as a set to keep them organised. To ungroup these entities, use the Delete command from the main menu to disassociate the group.
