Edge assemblies are combinations of flashings and edge components that work together in roofing projects. The EdgeAss.csv file stores all the details about these flashing combinations that you've created in Roof Wizard.
π§Ύ What edge assemblies are
Edge assemblies combine multiple flashing components into a single unit for estimation and installation. For example, a valley assembly might include the valley flashing, underlayment, and fasteners as one combined item.
π§ How EdgeAss.csv works
All details pertaining to the use of flashings combined to become an assembly are saved in this file. The file serves different purposes depending on your Roof Wizard mode:
Non-Commercial mode: This is all that is created - basic edge assembly data only
Commercial mode: Assembly Groups may also be created, with their links saved in the SgroupLink.csv file
π‘ When you might need to understand this file
Understanding the EdgeAss.csv file structure can be helpful when:
Troubleshooting missing or incorrect edge assembly data
Backing up your custom assembly configurations
Transferring assembly setups between installations
Working with technical support to resolve data issues
β οΈ Important notes
This file would not normally be edited outside of the program. Making manual changes to EdgeAss.csv outside of Roof Wizard could cause data corruption or program errors.
Always use Roof Wizard's built-in tools to modify edge assemblies rather than editing the CSV file directly.
π File location and backup
The EdgeAss.csv file is stored in your Roof Wizard data directory alongside other material definition files. Regular backups of your data directory will preserve these assembly configurations.
