Tools > Show LineTypes
π§Ύ What it does
The Show LineTypes command displays labels on your roof drawing that identify the type of each line segment.
These labels appear as tags with the prefix "ENTITY TYPE:" followed by the specific line type name.
The line type determines what material goes onto that particular line and affects pay rate calculations for installers based on the storey level.
β
π§ How to use it
Click Tools > Show LineTypes from the menu, or click the Show LineTypes button in the toolbar
Line type labels will automatically appear on all lines in your drawing
To hide the labels, click the same button again to toggle them off
π Understanding line type labels
Each label shows:
Line type name: Prefixed with "ENTITY TYPE:" (e.g., "ENTITY TYPE: Ridge", "ENTITY TYPE: Gutter")
Storey number: Displayed in brackets when applicable (e.g., "[2]") - this ensures the correct installers' pay rate is applied if rates vary by storey height
β οΈ Important distinction
Showing line types is NOT the same as selecting materials. The line type labels only display what type of line it is - they don't change or select the actual materials.
To select or change materials for flashings, use Cover > Flashings instead.
π‘ Practical benefits
Quickly identify different roof elements (ridges, gutters, valleys, etc.)
Verify correct pay rates will be applied based on line type and storey
Review your roof structure before generating estimates
Troubleshoot material assignment issues
