How do I set up metal colours for roof covering?

Learn how to configure and manage metal colour options for roof covering materials in AppliCad Roof Wizard.

Menu path

Setup > Metal Colours

What it does

The Metal Colours feature allows you to define and manage the colour options available when selecting metal roof covering materials. These colours must be configured before they can be used in material selection dialogs.

🧾 Default colour setup

Out of the box, AppliCad provides a range of colours that are common in Australia as defined by Bluescope Steel Ltd. You may wish to change these to suit your supplier's colours.

πŸ”§ How to manage metal colours

  1. Go to Setup > Metal Colours

  2. The colour definitions are saved in a file called colours.csv

  3. As a text file, the colour list may also be edited in a spreadsheet program

πŸ›  Using metal colours in material selection

After you select the colour you want, the roof cover material dialog box is displayed. The colours are defined under Setup > Metal Colours and must be defined first if you wish to use them.

The roof cover material dialog displays:

  • The material you have selected for the straight roofing

  • The material for the curved roofing (if selected)

Changing material selection

  1. To change the selection, click on Change Metal

  2. Select the new or different roof cover

  3. Select Accessories to review the available accessories for the selected panel

πŸ’‘ Tips

  • Metal colours must be defined in Setup before they appear in material selection dialogs

  • The colours.csv file can be edited directly in spreadsheet programs for bulk changes

  • Default colours are based on Australian Bluescope Steel standards but can be customised for your suppliers
