Roof Wizard provides web licensing of the Roof Wizard software as standard.
All users with internet access can utilise as many licenses as they have available to their organisation, concurrently, from any location. This flexible licensing works for all users who have previously had to contact AppliCad to check licenses out when travelling, working from a remote location, or taking your work away when on vacation.
🧾 What web server licensing provides
Web server licensing provides improved accessibility of the software to all users in your organisation, ensuring the right tools are provided to the right resources at the right time. Simply install the software on the PC where it is required to be used.
🔧 License check-out feature
However, we found that not all users have access to the web at all times or the internet might be unreliable. To save any inconvenience from unreliable internet, we have provided a tool to allow you to check a license out of the license server, overcoming the need to be continuously connected to the web.
This tool has also proven useful for customers who wish to ensure a license is reserved for one or multiple users, while a pool of shared licenses remains for the other users. Permanent user licenses are simply 'checked out', effectively locking them to the PC it is checked out to, with the remaining licenses left on the license server to be shared by the remaining staff.
⚠️ Important: You must be connected to the web to facilitate the 'check-out license' process, and to check the license back in. You must contact the AppliCad Support Team to have this feature enabled.
🔧 ReadOnly mode and error handling
If you try to check out a license when none are available or while you are in ReadOnly mode, you get the following error message:
If a full web license becomes available while in ReadOnly mode, a message box appears asking if you wish to switch to ‘Full Functionality’ mode.
🛠 Managing licenses with License Manager
The key to success is to keep track of your licenses via the License Manager on our website. You log in to the License Manager at the AppliCad website with your email address and password. At the bottom of the page you will see the status of your licenses.
For example, if you have four licenses, the License Manager reports the status – in this example, three are checked out and one is free to use.
