Why do I get “Cannot find RoofWiz.dab...” when I try to print my new template?

This usually means your template is .docx. Save it as Word 97–2003 (.doc) and ensure UserReportNames.csv references the correct file name.

Updated this week

🧩 Why this happens

To ensure backwards compatibility for users who do not have the most up to date version of MS Word, the template must be in Word 97-2003 (*.doc) format, not *.docx.

If the Roof Wizard can't find the referenced file name (because it has the incorrect extension) then it automatically goes looking in the CAD file (Roofwiz.dab) for the same report name and it will not be there. Hence the error message.

✅ Fix

  1. Ensure the template is saved in the correct Word format

  • The template must be Word 97–2003 (*.doc) (not .docx).

  1. Check your report mapping

  • Ensure that the UserReportNames.csv file has the correct document name in the list.
