π§Ύ What these commands do
Roof Wizard provides three different ways to open existing jobs, each designed for different workflows and preferences. All jobs are typically stored in the default directory C:\AppliCad\Roof Wizard\User, though you can also set the ..\User folder to be on a shared network drive (e.g., Z:\User).
π§ File > Open
This is the standard method to open an existing job. When you select this option, the Select database and model to read dialogue box appears.
β
Left panel: Shows the list of database files (.DAB) in the current folder.
Right panel: Displays the list of models in the selected DAB file when you click on it.
Preview area: Shows a preview of the selected model in the bottom right (if the Show Preview checkbox was checked when the job was saved).
You can sort the CAD databases by last modified or alphabetically, and search by CAD database name and model name. The database file name and model name are displayed in the status line at the top of the workspace screen.
β
After you click [OK], the selected model opens in the graphics area and is available for editing.
π§ File > Open Quote
This option allows you to find and open a job based on your quotation numbers, which are created when you save a quotation using Supply+Install or SupplyOnly. All quotation numbers used are displayed and can be sorted alphabetically or by date, or searched by name or part of a name.
β
π§ File > Open-Thumbnails
This command works the same as File > Open but with the added feature of previewing each model in the database with thumbnail images, making it easier to visually identify jobs.

π‘ Database file organisation tips
A database file can contain any number of models - you may have one job per database file. Other models are automatically created for each job such as quotation report models and drawing models, which will increase the overall size of the database file over time.
β
Customer-based organisation: You may create a database for each customer (e.g., PorterHomes.dab) and save all job models for that builder in that database.
β
Time-based organisation: For builders with many jobs, create time-indicative file names (e.g., PorterHomesQtr3-2026.dab) with all jobs for that period saved in that database. Use street addresses to uniquely identify each job.
β οΈ Important file management warnings
There are many ways to file your jobs and some thought should be given to your situation before you get too far into it.
β
NOT recommended: Saving all jobs in a single database called JOBS.dab or similar. The file becomes very large very quickly, slows downloading times, and if lost or corrupted, you risk losing everything.
